when he gets in the car after school today and takes a chapter book which he had borrowed from the school library out of his backpack and makes the bold declaration, "i actually like reading now, mom" and your heart is so thankful for his perseverance over these 6 months of learning to read because it has not been easy for him but he took the high road and fought the hardness of it and just practiced even though he hated it. because working hard is valuable and sometimes you just have to trust a person other than yourself who believes in you and believes that you can do it and believes that your abilities can exceed the struggle.
because he chose to believe us and he worked hard and he is a reader now.
and you are proud of him and humbled to watch the way God is writing His truths on this heart because when you see the fruit of a life that surrenders to being cultivated, it is mysterious and awe inspiring.
