the day, like today, that you realize that celebrating all these birthdays really isn't going to put you in a room with padded white walls and really it was the self-imposed pressure to celebrate birthdays the way other people celebrate birthdays that had you swearing off any celebrations at all. the new confidence that we can do birthdays our way and make them as special as the fancy parties with fancy decorations and loads of people. we can celebrate life well with even just our little family in the simpleness of who we are. we can play baseball in the park or eat cupcakes decorated with crazy loads of candy because that is what the celebrated one wants and that can be enough. it can be plenty, too.

grateful for the chance to love and be loved many times over each year.
let love and faithfulness never leave you. bind them around your neck write them on the tablet of your heart
