when the words there in the bible strike an uncomfortable chord in you

Now while [Jesus] was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many people saw the miraculous signs he was doing and believed in his name. But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all men. He did not need man's testimony about man, for he knew what was in a man.
and so you call your dad on the telephone because that's what you always do when you don't get it and he says, "do you entrust yourself to everyone you meet? why would Jesus?" but something about this doesn't feel good so you keep thinking and probing your heart and the truth of the matter comes to light. your real struggle is that you wonder would Jesus trust me? who am I to Jesus?

and it's a hard thought to follow because this thought makes deep grooves in your self-worth but that's just it, there is no self-worth, just Jesus-in-me-worth because the answer to your fear is, no, Jesus would rightfully not have entrusted himself to you. BUT because you believe in Him and put your trust in Him and you belong to Him; because you are His, this whole life, this whole journey has been about him entrusting you with more and more of Himself because He is the living gift and He opens eyes and heals wounds and gives Himself more and more and every day seems like another gift with a little bit deeper relationship with the living God and it's all because of Jesus. because Jesus died on the cross for you when you were far off and perpetually calls you to come nearer! come! there's more for you! let me show you! come closer! let's walk together and i'll keep showing you, i'll keep entrusting you!

let love and faithfulness never leave you. bind them around your neck write them on the tablet of your heart
